April 2006:  Lisa Miles is a professional creative artist who writes original music, collaborating with film, theatre, visual, and movement artists. A violinist based in Pittsburgh, PA, Lisa has been awarded grants for her creative work. October 2006:  Created and designed the new electronic monthly newsletter web site for DynaVox Technologies. Created 6 issues from October 2005-March 2006 during my 6 month contract position as web developer at DynaVox Technologies. The newsletter highlights a different user each month, and is a showcase for new devices and software at DynaVox.

August 2005:  The Latin Dance Palace web site was created to advertise and promote a new dancing venue in Pittsburgh, PA. The site provided details about special events, guest DJs and musicians, etc. The web site featured custom designed text and original artwork (silhouette of dancers), which I created using Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop. The Latin Dance Palace has closed its doors, and I'm now hosting the web site as a sample of my web design work.

March 2005:  French Brothers Custom Furniture is a marketing tool for my client. He plans to take orders for a variety of custom inlaid furniture pieces, which are displayed in the online catalog. This site features an extensive photo gallery to allow customers to fully customize their orders.

1st Site Redesign:  January 2005:  The AccomplishOnline web site is a marketing tool for Accomplish Reading Comprehension Software. I redesigned the web site to make it easier to navigate and more visually appealing. The new site features:  custom graphics for navigation, custom Style Sheets, digital photos, promotional phrasing, and enhancements to the overall layout and design. 2nd Site Redesign:  August 2005.

November 2004:  Bobby D hosts a Swing Dance at the Wightman School in Pittsburgh, PA. every Saturday Night. He hired me to redesign his existing web site and to take digital photos. The new site features "Saddle Shoe" buttons for site navigation, (adding to the "fun factor" for visitors), and 5 new pages of digital photos, which are also sprinkled throughout the site.

October 2004:  This 2 page mini web site is designed to educate the public about how to join the National Marrow Donor Program. The site describes the Marrow Registry, Eligibility Requirements, and how to Locate a Marrow Drive or Donor Center near you. This is one of my personal projects, and is currently a "work in progress." I hope to fully develop the site as time allows.

July 2004:  This web site describes the annual Johnnie Johnson Blues & Jazz Festival, and also provides information about the Johnnie Johnson Blues & Jazz Society of Fairmont, West Virginia. In addition, you can read about the history of Johnnie Johnson, the Father of Rock & Roll Music! Visit the site to view hundreds of digital photos from the 2003 Festival!

June 2004:  The Early Learning Institute discovered they were in trouble when their hosting company went out of business, and all of their web site's links stopped working! I completely redesigned their web site, recreated the logo in Adobe Illustrator, and got them established with a new hosting company. I also created a digital photo gallery for the site.
Update Fall 2006:  The Early Learning Institute received an offer to have their web site redesigned for free by a local firm. So, they are no longer using the web site that I created. I am now hosting my version of the web site as part of my portfolio web site.

April 2004:  Circle C Youth and Family Services provides help for troubled kids in Pittsburgh. Their old web site needed a face lift, so I volunteered to help design a fresh, modern, new web site for these good folks. The new web site features new site navigation, graphics, logos, and hundreds of digital photographs that I've taken at a variety of events during 2003-2004.

March 2004:  The "Fill the Mug" Charity Bar Crawl web site was provided information about the charity event, which took place on Saturday Afternoon, May 1, 2004 in Pittsburgh's South Side. Proceeds benefited the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. See site for photos.

February 2004:  My first foray into the world of Ebay. I discovered that Ebay allows its users to create and design customized web pages in which to display and promote the merchandise. So naturally, I was inspired to create this colorful page to try and sell my coat.

December 2003:  This web site was inspired by my brother Rand, who lost his fight against Leukemia on February 18, 2004. My goal is to honor my brother's memory by creating a resource guide to help those affected by Leukemia, while raising awareness for the National Marrow Donor Program. I hope to fully develop this site at some point in the future, as time allows.

December 2003:  This web site features a bright color scheme chosen by my client, and inspired by the pop art of the 60's. My client declined the use of any custom graphics for this site, and instead preferred a clean, simple approach to his web site. As they say, the customer's always right! Give the people what they want! Extant Music invites visitors to listen to music samples, join a mailing list, and provides information for purchasing CDs.

September 2003:  The Heritage Room web site is designed to educate the public about the cultural value of adding a New Heritage Room to the famous Nationality & Heritage Rooms Program in the Cathedral of Learning at the University of Pittsburgh. As Web Design Chair for this committee, I created the Heritage Room web site, which features custom graphic design throughout, an 11page Photo Gallery, Digital Slide Shows, and information about our mission.

August 2003:  This web site was created as a forum to educate the public about the political situation in Moon Township, PA., and to document the activities of local officials. It has been an instant success, with 1000's of visitors. This web site is maintained and updated by the site's owner.

April 2003:  Located in Pittsburgh, PA., Computational Diagnostics, Inc. hired me to redesign their existing web site. CDI designs and manufactures Neurophysiological Monitoring equipment. Their new site provides a much more modern look, with improved functionality and ease of navigation. I also provided services in Graphic Design & Digital Photography.

August 2002:  Jill West and Blues Attack is a popular Pittsburgh blues band. While I was still a student at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, I approached the band about creating a site for them as a school project. They heartily accepted my offer, and the rest, as they say, is history! My duties as webmaster included:  creating and designing the original web site, maintaining and updating the site and mailing list, creating an electronic monthly newsletter, answering correspondence, and taking digital photographs at events. I remained their webmaster until May 2004.
