Our
Programs
The Early Learning Institute
provides services to children, families and professionals
in the field of early intervention through the following programs:
Infant/Toddler
This program serves children from birth to 3 years of age,
usually in their home or child care facility. Services are
tailored to each child's needs and determined through a collaboration
between parents, the child's developmental therapist and service
coordinator. Services (defined in an Individual Family Service
Plan with development goals to be achieved) may include vision,
speech or language therapy; occupational, physical or developmental
therapy; or social services. This program is funded in part
by The Department of Welfare for The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
through Allegheny County's Mental Health/Mental Retardation
program.
Preschool
The preschool program enables children 3- to 5-years-old
to play and learn together through curricula designed for
children of all abilities. Full, part-time, morning or afternoon
sessions are held at the agency program sites in South Hills,
Ohio Valley and Turtle Creek. Our professional staff works
with parents to design an Individual Education Plan (IEP)
defining goals to be achieved. These programs make it possible
for children of all abilities to play and learn with peers
from their own communities. Services may include vision, speech
or language therapy; occupational, physical or developmental
therapy; or social services. This program is funded in part
by the Department of Education for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
through the Intermediate Unit of Allegheny County. The child's
Intermediate Unit approves placement of children with disabilities.
Typical children are placed on a first come first served basis.
Child Care
The Institute also operates the Harmony Learning
Center in Turtle Creek, a fully licensed child care facility
for children 18 months to 5-years-old. Harmony provides an
educational environment for children to learn and grow through
a variety of developmental activities for children of all
abilities. Pre-kindergarten programs are also available. Child
Care is provided year round from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each weekday.
