14-year-old Pittsburgh girl, Amy Katz,
was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2003.
There is currently no matching donor for Amy in
the world wide marrow registries. |
 |
 |
| Amy's Army is a dedicated group of volunteers who are
looking for a matching stem cell (marrow) donor for Amy. We
organize marrow drives in Pittsburgh and across the country to
help Amy & thousands like her seeking their life-saving match. Amy's Army has added more than 7,000 new names to the marrow registry, and found 13 matches for other patients, but none for Amy. So, the search continues. |
· Anyone in good health between 18-60 can join.
· NO BLOOD is taken. The test is a simple cheek swab.
· You pay NOTHING! Testing is free, quick, and easy.
· Download & Fill out the consent form in advance to save time. |
Joining the Marrow Registry has never been easier. Just fill out the consent form,
and the test is just a cheek swab for HLA tissue typing. No blood is needed! |
When you join the Marrow Registry, you become part of a world-wide network of volunteers willing to save someone's life if you're ever found to be a match. Some people's tissue type is so unique that there might only be one match for that person in the whole world. YOU might be someone's miracle match! Signing up to be a potential stem cell donor will enter your information into the
National Bone Marrow Registry to benefit our Amy and other patients worldwide
in need of a lifesaving donor match.
Amy Katz is a 14 year old Pittsburgh girl, who was diagnosed with Leukemia 3 years ago. Currently, there is no matching donor for Amy in the world wide marrow registries.
Fortunately, Amy is doing very well, and is in remission. But the only known cure for Amy's form of Leukemia is a bone marrow transplant, so the search continues.
Amy's Army is a devoted group of volunteers dedicated to finding a stem cell (bone marrow) donor who can help Amy get well again.
To accomplish this goal, Amy's Army organizes Marrow Drives in Pittsburgh and across the country. As the search for Amy's perfect match continues, these marrow drives have enlarged the ranks of the National Bone Marrow Registry, thereby helping thousands of others like Amy who are also searching every day for their perfect match.
In the past 3 years, Amy's Army Marrow Drives have added over 7,000 new volunteers to the Marrow Registry, and 13 matches have been found for other patients. But none so far for Amy.
How many of us will ever have the opportunity to save the life of another human being? It is a rare gift for both the donor and the patient. And in some cases, you might be the one and only person in the world who has a matching tissue type for a particular patient. You can be a real life SUPEHERO! Please consider joining the marrow registry. Together, we can help save lives.
Anyone in good health between the
ages
of 18-60 can join the Marrow Registry.
